how do I get there?
The Mentawai Islands Regency is well known for being one of the best surfing locations in the world. It is made up of about 70 islands and inlets, 150kms off the west coast of Sumatra. Siberut (4.030 km ²), where we are located, is the largest island. The other major islands are Sipura, North Pagai (Pagai Utara) and South Pagai (Pagai Selatan) and the indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the people of the Mentawais. It is still to this day one of the most beautiful and untouched destinations that this world has to offer.
Due to it’s remote location, it does take some coordinating to reach, but our customer service team will do the hard work involved to make the process easy.
1. Fly into minangkabau airport (Pdg) - padang west sumatra
This is the closest Airport to The Mentawai Islands and is where you will catch the Ferry to The Resort. You will need to transit either through Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur and then it is 1-1.5hour flight direct to PDG.

2.Overnight stay in Padang at Kokos hostel
Due to the early departure time of the Ferry, you will be required to stay one night in Padang before you arrive at The Resort. Your accommodation in Padang is included in our package at our sister location in Padang City, walking distance to the Harbour called Kokos Hostel.
Staying at our Hostel means you will not “lose” a night in transit, the good times will start as soon as you land in Padang, with a cool rooftop to hang out with your mates or meet knew ones. Our team in Padang are there to show you around, take you for famous Padang local food and to help you with anything you need before you head to the island.
3. Transfer by boat to the resort
- You will need to catch the Mentawai Fast Ferry to the islands. Your ticket is included in our package.
- The Ferry departs from the Harbour located 2 mins from Kokos Hostel at 7:00am.
- The Ferry heads to Siberut, directly or with 1 stop.
- Due to the current world pandemic (2020), the schedule has slightly changed. Currently the Ferry departs:
- Tuesdays & Saturdays direct (2-4 hours)
- We normally aim to get to the harbour around 6:30am. We will transport you with your luggage to the harbour. This is included in our package.
- Once you reach Siberut you will then transfer to our private speed boat and head directly to The Resort which takes roughly 45 mins.
